Syncro Cup Challenge 2012: The Competition is going to be FIERCE!

The twelfth running of the first and only serious Syncro competition in the US is shaping up to be the most contentious and action packed yet!

The Pro-class has at least seven top-notch drivers with very capable Syncros.  The big question is whether Tom Lengyl will "Three-Peat" the Syncro Cup, or will one of the other drivers snatch the victory from him.

You can read about the Pro-class drivers at this link.  If you would like to enter the Syncro Cup Challenge, sign-up is at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday in Area 5.  (Late arrivals will be allowed entry.)  Drivers may purchase a day pass to participate.  Spectators are also welcome to purchase day passes.

"The Bus" Comes to SYNCRO de MAYO

Great news!

The Bus is coming to SYNCRO de MAYO.

In cooperation with the Firewater Film Company and filmmaker Damon Ristau, Syncro de Mayo will host a Fundraiser and screening of Damon's new documentary film about VW Buses and their owners, The Bus.

The film will be shown at the Area 5 stage on Friday evening at 8:00 p.m.

All proceeds raised from the non-profit fundraiser will go to Firewater Film Company for payment of post-production expenses.  The fundraiser and film screening are open to the general public and you do not have to be a participant of Syncro de Mayo to attend.  A minimum donation of $10 will be collected.  Kids are free.

The evening's activities will be built around the film and the Syncro de Mayo organizers intend to make the most of this fun occasion.  So come on out to the stage at Area 5 on Friday evening and enjoy this beautiful film in an ideal setting surrounded by your friends and fellow VW bus owners!

The fundraiser is sponsored by the Founders and Organizers of SYNCRO de MAYO and SYNCRO.ORG. For more information about The Bus, see:

http://www.busmovie.com/

Update:  Overnight camping for moviegoers will be available in Area 5 for $10 per vehicle for Friday night.  Camping moviegoers are welcome to join in the post-movie SdM campground festivities.

SdM XIII Tee Shirt Design

Syncronaut Matt Winckler has earned the high honor of having his Syncro featured on the SdM XIII tee-shirt.

When you see the photo the graphic came from, you will likely agree with us that Matt earned it!

The photo is one of Richard's many great photos from SdM 2011.

Congratulations, Matt, and thanks to both Matt and Richard for a providing us with a fitting and authentic symbol for this year's event!

Update:  Here's a mock-up of this year's tee-shirt.

Richard's Amazing Photographs

Richard Kimbrough has been releasing photos of Syncro de Mayo bit by bit as he works his way through the many shots he took, usually late at night after work and after the kids are in bed.
Those of us who watched Richard at work were in awe at his dedication and professionalism, but we all enjoyed him equally as a friend to hang out with in camp, or to go for a ride with up on the trails, so it was nice when he sometimes put the camera down and we got to enjoy his company as a "civilian."
Here are a few photographs from Richrad's Syncro de Mayo 2011 Album on Facebook. (Click for larger view.)

Check out all of Richard's Syncro de Mayo photos at his Facebook Album.
He has more photos to go through, so be sure to check back for updates.
The amount of time Richard has invested in his Syncro de Mayo photo shoot is incredible. Days and days spent shooting and then nights and nights spent proofing and sorting and posting. All at no profit to Richard.
Please join us in showing Richard our appreciation for the valuable gift he, as an artist, has given us as a community with these beautiful photographs. Please visit the tip jar we have set up for him at paypal. Even $5 will help defray some of Richards' expenses (including damage to his lens). All donations go directly to Richard's account.

And if you are interested in purchasing a print of any of Richard's photos, just p-mail him at this address: richard@richardkimbroughphotography.com If you think these photos look good on the computer, you should see them in print, framed and hanging on a wall. And Richard can print them quite large, or whatever size you want.

Thank You Everyone!

We're still basking in the afterglow, and tending to those sore muscles, but what a great time that was!

Thank you everyone who came out and made it such a great weekend. We will be posting pics and post-event info once we get caught up in a day or two. In the mean time, here are a few really nice shots attendee Ann Hageman took over the weekend (click for the larger version):
